Check your card's centering
Take a photo straight from above, load it, line up the edges. You get the left/right and top/bottom ratios and the centering grade on our public scale. The photo stays on your device.
White lines: the card's outer edges. Blue lines: the inner border of the artwork. Drag them; a magnifier helps you place them.
How centering is graded
We measure the margin on each side, between the card's edge and the edge of the artwork: left and right, then top and bottom. The ratio between an axis's two margins is that axis's centering; the tool grades each side on the worse of its two axes.
The card's centering grade is the average of the front and the back, rounded to the half point, quarter points rounded up. Past 65/35 on a side, the card is graded without centering and marked OC.
| Worst ratio on a side | Grade |
|---|---|
| 55/45 or better | 10 |
| up to 57.5/42.5 | 9.5 |
| up to 60/40 | 9 |
| up to 62.5/37.5 | 8.5 |
| up to 65/35 | 8 |
| worse than 65/35 | OC |
Centering is 10% of the final grade; corners, edges and surface are 30% each. The whole scale: grading scale.
Taking the photo
- Flat, from straight aboveA tilted phone widens the margins on the near side. Lay the card on a dark surface and shoot straight down.
- The whole card, no glareLeave some background around the card and avoid glare on its edge: the tool looks for the contrast between the card and the background.
- Out of the sleeve if you canA sleeve's or toploader's edge can pass for the card's. Check the lines with the magnifier before reading the result.
